I went to Nara today with a friend from Tokyo, and it was a LOT of fun--I finally got to see the exhibit on Buddhist art, but I might go again since we kind of rushed it, what with her not being a big museum person, and me not being a big "god, huge throng of people" person--I have no idea why the museum was
packed, but it was, and it made me kinda twitchy after a while. I'm OK in crowded clubs, but in a museum when I want to soak up the stuff and look at it carefully and all that, and instead there are fifty bajillion people trying to occupy the same space, and yeah, no. But we did see a statue of a guardian god who was really hot and had three eyes and a horn, and we made comments ensuring that we will be going to hell. XD Worth it, though. (my friend almost killed me when we looked at one statue and I went, "...Hey, he looks like the guy that played Angel on Buffy!" and she died because
it did. The face looked exactly like David Boreneaz (or however it's spelled), and she told me I was going to hell.
I told her she was going to hell when we got to the giant statue of Buddha in Todaiji, and she went, "...I like big Buddhas and I can't deny!"
There is special hell for us. >XD
Oh, and a deer tried to bite my butt when I didn't feed it deer crackers. It...got smacked on the nose for that. The deer were much pushier than they used to be; I blame all the testosterone since now all the males have horns and have to prove they were MANLY man deer or something.
...I smacked a lot of deer in the face today. Did I mention I'm going to a special hell?
We also watched a group of Japanese men having the MOTHER of all bad ideas--they taped deer crackers to one of their poor compatriots and sent him in to be mauled by deer. Luckily, the deer had more sense than the men and just looked at the idiot with deer crackers taped to him (including one taped to his
crotch) and ignored him. This led to my friend declaring that Japanese men should not be allowed out in groups unsupervised.
We found a nice little pizza place and ate, then headed to karaoke. I haven't been to karaoke since March, and god, I missed it. We ended up staying for three hours, since both of us are singers, and we were going nuts with it, picking songs we both knew and harmonizing and improvising and all that, and it was SUCH fun.
I just got home and had a shower, so I no longer feel icky and grimy, which makes me a happy person. And I'm about to have a chuuhai (a relatively sweet alcoholic drink that's about as alcoholic as beer, but doesn't taste like ass--I've got kiwi and pineapple flavored, and they are TEH WIN) from the fridge, and that will make for an even
happier jou. Chuuhai, writing out a scene I want to get done for the Epicfic, and then if I'm still awake enough, curling up with Tokyo Babylon or Nanashi no Geemu, and life? Will be pretty good. I'm easy to please.
:D
