Okay, it's...
unfortunate to have a large and dangerous hurricane in the news that shares a name with a video game character. Yes, I'm talking about
Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance & Radiant Dawn, who I learned about courtesy of Super Smash Bros Brawl.
I know the storm has done massive amounts of damage and cost lives and should be taken seriously... and yet the headlines keep making me sporfle with all kinds of wrong mental images, because I read them and picture the character instead of the weather.*
The first title to make me snork was:
"CNN.com: Ike looks powerful from space station" (...got good zoom lenses up there, don't they?!) Weather.com had one titled "Playing in Ike's Dangerous Waves" that sounded like a bad pr0n fic involving a waterbed, or something.
It's not that I don't take the hurricane seriously. People have lost their homes; people have died. One of my housemates is
in Texas at the moment, and may have to deal with at least the edges of this thing, and I'm sure it isn't funny AT ALL in person. All of which makes me feel guilty for finding any humor in the situation, but... 's just the way my brain works. >,0

And of course it doesn't help that I'm a perv whose personal corollary to Murphy's Law is "Anything that can be taken out of context, will be."
